GUIDO HARARI

GUIDO HARARI

Guido Harari has met and photographed the greatest music legends. Lou Reed said about him: "I'm always happy when Guido takes my picture because I know it will be a musical picture. And it will also have some poetry and feeling to it. The things that Guido captures with his portraits are generally speaking ignored by other photographers. I consider Guido a friend, not a photographer".

In the early Seventies Guido started out as a photographer and music journalist, launching a career quite unprecedented in Italy at the time and collaborating with magazines like "Ciao 2001", "Giovani", "Gong", "Rockstar", "Rock & Folk", "Amica", "Linea Uomo", "Mojo", "Amica", "Linea Uomo", "Sette", "Max", "King", "Moda", "Specchio", "Gentleman", "SportWeek", "L'Uomo Vogue"

He's worked with major Italian and international artists shooting album covers for, among others, Claudio Baglioni, Andrea Bocelli, Kate Bush, Vinicio Capossela, Paolo Conte, David Crosby, Pino Daniele, Bob Dylan, B.B. King, Ute Lemper, Ligabue, Mia Martini, Paul McCartney, Gianna Nannini, Michael Nyman, Luciano Pavarotti, PFM, Lou Reed, Vasco Rossi, Simple Minds and Frank Zappa.

Guido has been one of Fabrizio De André's personal photographers. Their collaboration spans twenty years and produced the cover for In concerto, the historic live album from the legendary 1979 De André-PFM tour. Guido has curated three successful books on De André: E poi, il futuro (Mondadori 2001, foreword by Fernanda Pivano), Una goccia di splendore (Rizzoli 2007, foreword by Beppe Grillo) and De André & PFM. Evaporati in una nuvola rock with PFM's Franz Di Cioccio (Chiarelettere 2008). He also was one of the curators of the major De André exhibition produced by Palazzo Ducale in Genoa.

By the Nineties Guido's activity included advertising, corporate photography, reportage as well as graphic design for his own books. His work has been featured in many exhibitions (Strange Angels 2002/05, Wall Of Sound 2007/08, Sguardi randagi. Fabrizio De André fotografato da Guido Harari 2009/10) and numerous books like Il Circo di Paolo Rossi. Sotto un cielo di gomma (Baldini & Castoldi 1995), Barboni.
